Recently, someone
asked me what is the price point for the pieces that I share on my blog and
when I explained that almost everything I buy is generally under $35 (with the
exception of shoes) she couldn't believe it.
So, let me explain. I, like most people, am on a serious budget. So, when I can, I like to get the biggest
bang for my buck. I especially love
getting very expensive things for super cheap.
In order for me to do that one of the first things I do when shopping is
look for the sale/clearance racks. To
me, clearance begins at 50% off (maybe 40% depending how badly I want the
item). This is a big reason why Macy's
and Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack are my favorite stores. They always have a ton of clearance racks
with great on trend pieces for prices that I can afford. Off 5th Saks 5th Avenue is another good
option if you like high end pieces and don't have the matching budget. However, Off
5th Saks doesn't offer much, if anything, as far as plus-size clothing in
store.
This outfit came in just under $100 at $99. The best deal out of all the pieces was the colored plus size Michael Kors jeans that I paired with this leopard print top and "nude" Chinese Laundry Mary Jane pumps. I got this super deal on the jeans by being extra patient and stalking them: meaning that I checked the price online and in-store every other day. One of the keys to getting great deals is patience. It is indeed a virtue in life and a necessity when you are bargain hunting.
I know shopping on clearance racks, on big sale days, or the outlets can be daunting, but have a little patience and take your time. I guarantee that you will be surprised to see some of the great finds you will come across.

Sticking to a budget while shopping is my downfall! I have all these great ideas, and when I see the price tags, I get so discouraged! It is great to see that others can do it, because that means I can too! I might not have the figure or money for those girls skinny jeans, but I look just as good!
ReplyDeleteThanks Eliza. I'll be sure to post another budget-friendly outfit soon. But in the meantime, if you want to be on trend and on budget you should check out the outlet malls in your area. They often have some amazing deals.
